The Knox County Eviction Diversion Program provides a faster, free alternative for landlords and tenants to resolve rental disputes outside of the court system. Through professional mediation services and community resources, we help bridge communication gaps, settle outstanding rent debts, and create sustainable housing solutions before an eviction is filed.

Risk of losing your housing within the next 21 days
Renter residing in Knox County, outside the City of Knoxville and Town of Farragut
Meet the criteria for one of the HOME-ARP Qualifying Populations

Program Process

1: Submit an Application

Create an account and complete an application on Neighborly. Our team will then review the application for eligibility.

2: Meet with a Professional Mediator

You and your landlord will be scheduled for a joint session led by a neutral, professional mediator. Together, you will openly discuss the rental or payment dispute, clear up communication gaps, and explore available community resources.

3: Build Your Path Forward

The mediator works with both parties to create a customized agreement that addresses back rent or lease concerns fairly. Mediation allows for a practical path forward while keeping the process out of the court system.
